5 skincare products I can’t live without
For whatever reason I’m like an annoying ex with these products.
Why does it seem like I run out of all of my favorite products at the same time? It’s super irritating because you know how much products cost...and quickly add up. I can literally leave Walgreens with an $80 tab (soap, toothpaste – is that a new conditioner?). And don’t get me started on Sephora…
Any who, people always compliment me on my skin and wonder what I use. Honestly, I don’t have an elaborate skin care routine. I just use what works (after trial and error and help from my dermatologist). Because I love hipping people to great things, here my five skincare staples:
1. Boscia Clear Complexion Cleanser
Listen. This face wash is so bomb. It’s a very gentle cleanser but works to clean your pores and whatever other gunk is on your face. It includes willow bark (which minimizes the appearance of dark spots & acts as a natural salicylic acid), rosemary leaf extract (which has antibacterial properties), geranium (which helps improve elasticity) and a bunch of other great things for your skin. I use this every morning and I have zero complaints. Yeah $28 is a bit much for a facial cleanser but you’re paying for magic here.
2. Effaclar Medicated Acne Facewash
Yes, I use two face washes. This is my p.m. fix :)
I don’t actually struggle with acne. I may get a bump here or there, which is why it’s important for me to have an acne cleanser on deck to help prevent any chaos. This cleanser is oil-free and exfoliates my skin without any harsh particles (although I do use this to wash with it). It contains 2 percent salicylic acid, which we already know fights acne. I really love this stuff because it’s not over-drying and it makes my face feel nice and clean. Oh, and it’s $15.
3. Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream
I know. This is for your body. But hear me out. I LOVE Cetaphil in general — the line was recommended to me by my dermatologist. I use this as my moisturizer and I never have to worry about my skin feeling thirsty. The lotion isn’t scented and doesn’t leave me feeling greasy. My makeup still comes out bomb with this as a base (and of course using a primer) and my face always looks nice and smooth. This can be grabbed at your local drugstore.
4. DIOR Capture Totale Dreamskin Advanced
So before I offer my two cents, don’t slap me when you see the price. I can’t even remember how I was introduced to this product but it literally makes your skin look FLAWLESS. No cap (as the kids say), it blurs imperfections and makes you glow. I like to use this before doing my makeup when I know I need to look bomb. The data I’m about to show is from Sephora’s site but numbers don’t lie, sis. Try it.
Research results:
In a consumer study on a number of participants, upon the first application:
- 99 percent smoother skin
- 91 percent refined skin texture
- 91 percent more luminous skin
5. ORIGINS Clear Improvement® Active Charcoal Mask to Clear Pores
This stuff is amazinggg. My dumb behind used it and “broke out” and was like “this stuff broke me out.” But actually it removed dirt, debris and any other toxins in my face. I mask pretty often, but do this one at least once a week, especially if I’ve worn makeup. If you want your skin to look refreshed and clarified, try this.
I actually bought an entire ORIGINS bestsellers (can’t find the one i purchased but this is close enough…sort of) and walked away with that being my favorite.
In real life, I’m a product junkie and honestly love trying new things. For whatever reason I’m like an annoying ex with these products. If you have any questions about my skin care routine just let me know, but I hope this answers your questions!
